Director Mani Ratnam’s upcoming gangster saga, Thug Life, has united a variety of talents from Indian cinema. The powerful collaboration of stardom includes the union of Kamal Haasan, STR, Trisha and others with the Mirzapur star, Ali Fazal. While the film prepares for a grand launch, veteran actor Kamal Haasan expressed his admiration towards the Khufiya star.
Impressed by Ali Fazal’s acting prowess, Kamal expressed his respect and warmth during a recent promotional event. The Indian 2 actor mentioned that he became a fan of Ali after watching him in Vishal Bhardwaj’s espionage thriller Khufiya.
Even though major details about Ali Fazal’s character are yet to be revealed, Kamal Haasan did emphasise the importance of Ali Fazal’s character in gangster saga. “I saw you in Vishal’s film (Khufiya) and knew I wanted to work with you. And this man (Mani Ratnam) made it happen. Ali is a very important actor for India. So I want to welcome you to Chennai and our cinema,” he said.

The Gufiya star, who is making his first Tamil debut, expressed his excitement on uniting with the legendary creators in Tamil cinema. Ali, who admires the masterminds behind Thug Life, also said, “Receiving a compliment like that from Kamal sir is something I will cherish forever.”
While expressing his respect towards Kamal Haasan’s legendary contributions, the Kandahar actor also added, “He’s not just a legend in Indian cinema but a global icon of storytelling, art, and courage. Sharing the screen with him in Thug Life is an honour, and being welcomed by him so warmly is a dream come true.”
Ali Fazal in the world of Thug Life
While the fans are waiting for a bit of a sneak peek of his character, the Mirzapur actor has shared something interesting about his character in the upcoming gangster film.
While describing his character, Ali said that it has negative shades combined with some interesting bits of action and adrenaline.
Speaking about his personal experience working in a Mani Ratnam film, Ali added that he had never seen such a film set, which is technically strong yet humble from the outside. He also expressed his gratitude for how the makers of the film welcomed him into the world of Thug Life. The actor revealed that his first shot of the film was an action sequence with Simbu.

Thug Life
Mani Ratnam’s Thug Life, which explores the complexity of characters within the world of crime, is all set to offer a grand outing with diverse talents on board. The film features Kamal Haasan, STR, Trisha Krishnan, Abhirami, Nassar, Ali Fazal, and Pankaj Tripathi in lead roles and Sanya Malhotra, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Rohit Saraf and others in supporting roles.
Jointly produced by Raaj Kamal Films International, Madras Talkies and Red Giant Movies, Thug Life is is an action gangster drama. Cinematographer Ravi K. Chandran and editor Sreekar Prasad are part of the technical team.
