Anjali Ameer Recalls Unsettling Incident With Actor Suraj Venjaramoodu (image-instagram/surajvenjaramoodu, anjali_ameer)
In the wake of the Hema Committee report, many actresses in the Malayalam film industry has come forward unleashing a torrent of revelations. Amidst series of allegations, transgender actress Anjali Ameer’s ‘unsettling’ experience on the film sets involving her co-star Suraj Venjaramoodu is now resurfacing on social media platforms.
In an earlier interview with Mathrubhumi, Anjali recounted that while she was working in a film, Suraj Venjaramoodu asked her an unsettling question regarding how a transgender person would experience pleasure.

She in the interview revealed that she had told the actor off and reported the incident to actor Mammootty.
“I had not faced any traumatic experiences until Suraj Venjaramoodu asked me if transgender people feel the same pleasure as women. I am a strong person, but this question made me angry,” she said.
Anjali explained that she immediately confronted Suraj and reported the incident to Mammootty and the director. Following her complaint, Suraj apologized and refrained himself making such comments.
“I warned him and reported it to Mammootty and the director. Venjaramoodu then apologized and has never spoken to me in that manner again, which I appreciate,” she admitted.
Anjali further reflected on the broader environment in the industry and stated that many people are respectful and decent and only some engage in appropriate conduct.
“There are decent people in the industry, that doesn’t mean there aren’t those who demand compromises or favours; unfortunately, such people exist too,” she said.
Anjali believed that being reserved, not attending after-parties and maintaining professional boundaries helped her protect herself from such advances.
Meanwhile, the actress has posted a story on her social media account, Instagram stating that she has not filed any complaint against any actor and had randomly narrated the incident during an interview. She in her story noted that the actor when confronted, had apologized.
Anjali Ameer is known for her role alongside the Tamil film ‘Peranbu’. On the other hand, Suraj was last seen in ‘Adios Amigos’ alongside Asif Ali.

Ever since the Hema Committee report was made public, it has opened up a Pandora’s box. It has led to a full-fledged MeToo movement in the film industry.
