Tovino Thomas’ much anticipated political drama Narivetta is all set to hit theatres today, May 23. Directed by Anuraj Manohar, the real-life-inspired political film is set to explore the cruel reality behind the oppression of the tribal communities and their cry for justice.

Produced by Indian Cinema Company, Manohar and writer Abin Joesph have dedicated the film to all the battles against injustice. While highlighting some of the brutal realities, the trailer echoes, “to every battle for justice, to every fight against injustice, this one is for them all.”

Narivetta, roughly translated as “wolf hunt,” promises an impactful story with Tovino, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Cheran, Arya Salim, Rini Udayakumar and others on board.

Set against the Muthanga uprising of 2003 in Kerala, the makers have chiseled the film with more than one real-life incident, portraying the reality of betrayal. It also spotlights the brutality of power and oppression while exploring the core of resilience.

The trailer encapsulates it well, “When the system betrays.” More than a film, Manohar’s Narivetta is expected to be an exploration of reality and truth.

Narivetta highlights real-life challenges faced by indigenous communities in Kerala. It unfolds in a tribal village where the local community fights to protect their ancestral land.
