Versatile actor Dhanush is set to bring life to the inspirational life of Bharat Ratna awardee Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam in his upcoming film. National award-winning director Om Raut announced the inspirational project titled Kalam: The Missile Man of India at the Cannes Film Festival. Check out the details here:
The inspirational life of Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, India’s 11th President and one of its most revered national icons, has found its way to the big screen. Staying true to the values of Dr. Kalam, the film will explore the life of the man behind the remarkable missile program achievements of the country.
The ambitious project featuring Dhanush will be co-produced by Abhishek Agarwal, under Abhishek Agarwal Arts, the force behind The Kashmir Files, and Bhushan Kumar under his banner T-Series.

The inspirational screenplay is penned by Saiwyn Quadras, whose writing credits include acclaimed biopics, including Neerja, Maidaan and Parmanu: The Story of Pokhran.
Announcing the project, Om Raut took to his X handle and wrote, “From Rameswaram to Rashtrapati Bhavan, the journey of a legend begins… India’s Missile Man is coming to the silver screen. Dream big. Rise higher. Kalam: The Missile Man Of India.”

The official announcement from the director read, “In an era starved of true statesmen, Kalam stood above politics and pettiness. He was a man who was known for the power of education, excellence and indigenous innovation.”

Raut, in his statement, also added, “To bring his story to the screen is an artistic challenge and a moral and cultural responsibility. It’s a story that’s inspirational for global youth and especially the youth of the Global south. It’s the most important experience of my life. His life is a lesson that is bound to connect with people no matter who they are and where they come from.”
Dhanush expressed the opportunity to portray the life of a leader as a blessing. In his Instagram post, the National award winning actor wrote, “I feel truly blessed and deeply humbled to be portraying the life of such an inspirational and magnanimous leader — our very own Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam sir.”

The actor-director has quite a number of projects in the pipeline to excite the audience. Dhanush will next be seen in Kubera, Idly Kadai, Tere Isk Mein in the upcoming days. Adding to this, he is also yet to announce his Ilaiyraaja biopic and films with ace directors like Mari Selvaraj, Rajkumar Periyaswamy, Mariselvaraj, Tamizharasan and Vetrimaaran.
