D56: Dhanush Teams Up With 'Karnan' Director Mari Selvaraj For His Next Venture (Image-X/mari_selvaraj)
Four years after the acclaimed collaboration on Karnan, director Mari Selvaraj and Dhanush will reunite for an exciting project. And here is all you need to know about Dhanush’s tentatively titled D56 project.
The 2021 action entertainer, Karnan, with the duo, completed the milestone of four years on April 9. The Mamannan director took the opportunity to announce his next with the actor. Titled as D56, the upcoming entertainer will be produced by Ishari Ganesh’s Vels Films International.
Actor-director Dhanush, who is focusing on his upcoming films Idli Kadai, Kubera and Teri Ishk Mein, has updated his list of project with Mari Selvaraj on board.

The announcement of this collaboration came with an intriguing poster with a sword reminiscent of the one from Karnan, with a distinctive human skull forming the handle. The tagline “Roots begin a Great War” hints at the film’s thematic direction.

Commemorating the fourth-year anniversary of the film Karnan, Mari Selvaraj wrote, “Feeling overwhelmed as we celebrate four years of a journey shaped by Karnan’s sword! Grateful to everyone who has supported and cherished Karnan over the years.”
Announcing his next venture with Dhanush, he further wrote, “I’m thrilled to share that my next film will once again be with my dearest @dhanushkraja sir! This story has been brewing in my mind for a while, and I’m truly excited to team up with him again. It’s also my first project with @ishariKganesh sir, and I couldn’t be happier. This is sure to be a thrilling ride! Here, roots begin a great war (sic).”

On the work front, Dhanush is currently basking in the success of his previous directorial NEEK. Moreover, the actor is intensively focusing on his upcoming directorial Idly Kadi, which features, Nithya Menen, Arun Vijay, Shalini Pandey, Prakash Raj and Rajkiran in prominent roles. The film is a joint production between Wunderbar Films and Dawn Pictures, with Red Giant Movies handling distribution.
