Benz: Lokesh Kanagaraj's Next LCU Film With Raghava Lawrence Goes On Floor (Image-X/GSquadOffl)

Lokesh Kanagaraj, the director known for his interconnected cinematic universe, LCU, has begun his journey as a producer. The director, who is looking forward to his upcoming release, Coolie, has launched his first production venture, Benz. Directed by Bakkiyaraj Kannan, Benz, the new installment of the LCU universe, was officially launched with a pooja ceremony on May 12.

Jointly produced by Lokesh’s home production G Squad along with Passion Studios and The Route, the upcoming action entertainer Benz began shooting in Chennai yesterday.

Written and directed by the Remo and Sultan fame director Bakkiyaraj Kannan, the film introduces actor Raghava Lawrence into the world of LCU. With the Kanchana actor on board, the multi-star action film will also have two other prominent heroes to play other major roles.

G Squad, one of the producers of the film, also shared the images from the auspicious pooja ceremony on its X handle. Announcing the fresh start, the pictures were captioned with the words that read, “From the Universe of Benz.”

Even though details about other members of the cast are yet to be unveiled, the makers have confirmed actress Samyuktha Menon as the female lead. However, fans have to wait a little longer until the makers drop a thrilling announcement about the cast.

With director Bakkiyaraj Kannan handling the dialogue, screenplay and direction, the music of the film will be composed by the sensational musician Sai Abyankhar. The technical crew includes cinematographer Gowtham George, editor Philomin Raj, art director Jackie, and stunt choreographer Anil Arasu.

With three production houses bankrolling the film, Benz is expected to be made on a large scale, covering major cities. As per the reports, the filming is scheduled across major Indian cities and the UAE over a span of 120+ days.

Upcoming LCU lineups

Moreover, director Lokesh has also planned to expand his cinematic universe with interesting lineups. With Benz on cards, Lokesh will be focusing on Kaithi 2 right after the release of his action entertainer Coolie with Superstar Rajinikanth.

Apart from Kaithi 2, he also confirmed his plans to direct Vikram 2, Leo 2 and Rolex, a standalone film with Suriya. Even though Vijay’s return to the screen is still unsure, the director expressed his wish to explore the world of Leo.
