Renowned director of Tamil cinema, Lokesh Kanagaraj, has caught the attention of filmgoers for his anticipated acting debut. Here is all you need to know about the Vikram director’s acting debut with director Arun Matheshwaran.
Known for his Lokesh Kanagaraj Universe or LCU, Lokesh has helmed blockbuster films like Kaithi, Master, Vikram, and Leo. Fans of the director have been expecting his acting debut for quite some time. Even though rumours about his acting debut stir the internet from time to time, there were no official confirmations.
But this time, the possibility seem quite promising. According to reports, Lokesh is all set to star in the next directorial project of Captain Miller fame director Arun Matheswaran.
Arun was initially expected to direct the Ilaiyaraaja biopic, but plans changed due to unexpected delays in the biopic’s production. As of now, these anticipations remain rumours, since the makers have not yet made any official statement regarding the project.
Lokesh Kanagaraj’s screen presence
Lokesh Kanagaraj has made a few remarkable onscreen appearances in the past. In 2021, he made a cameo appearance alongside his crew members in Thalapathy Vijay’s Master. Later, he was also seen in a music video titled Inimel, alongside Shruti Haasan. The song was penned by Kamal Haasan and produced under his banner, Raaj Kamal Films International.

Lokesh Kanagaraj’s Coolie
Currently, Lokesh is extensively focusing on his upcoming release Coolie starring Rajinikanth. The director has taken a break from social media until the promotions of the film begin. Aiming to offer a full-fledged action entertainer, Lokesh is set to feature an ensemble cast that also includes Nagarjuna Akkineni, Upendra Rao, Shruti Haasan, Soubin Shahir, Sathyaraj, and many more in key roles.
The film is slated for release on August 14, and is also expected to feature a cameo appearance from actor Aamir Khan.
