The Bollywood movie Dunki, directed by Rajkumar Hirani is all set to release on December 21. The movie featuring Shah Rukh Khan, Taapsee Pannu and Vicky Kaushal has invoked a massive response from Bollywood enthusiasts and Shah Rukh Khan fans across the world. With the first-day show planning going on in India and abroad, the fans are rushing for the advance booking which will be starting on December 16. Some places might start the booking process earlier, namely December 15, according to Pinkvilla.
With the overseas booking already begun last week, the film has so far gathered a massive response from the fans. Pinkvilla reports that the opening might surpass RS 25 crore in the international market. It expects that the earnings could exceed Rs 124 crore with a favourable response from potential filmgoers.
During its initial week of advance booking in international market, Dunki garnered an impressive $300,000 (₹2.5 crore) on its debut day. The total weekend revenue has surpassed $500,000 (₹4.1 crore). Notably, the film secured the third position in pre-sales for Bollywood movies in 2023, marking a historical significance due to the unusually early commencement of advance bookings, as reported by Pinkvilla.
With Christmas and New Year coming, there will be an added boost to the number of filmgoers. The box office could probably hit higher during these peak seasons, helping the movie to earn bigger.
The film was ranked 3rd in the pre-sales, among 2023 Bollywood movies, crossing Rs 4.1 crore in the initial week. This ranking enthralled the fans further, creating buzz among them. The movie marks the third film of Shahrukh Khan released in 2023. The previous two, Pathaan and Jawan, were triumphant on the big screen.
However, there could be a potential star war at the box office for Dunki on December 21 and 22, as the competition that Dunki will be facing when Parbhas’s Salaar would be released on the same day. In the overseas market, reports suggest that Salaar might draw a better start while Dunki will be trailing.
