Over 30 Bollywood Production Houses Register Titles Like 'Operation Sindoor' For Upcoming Films
Bollywood filmmakers are swiftly registering titles inspired from the mission name “Opeartion Sindoor” and the preceding Pahalgam terror attack.
The attack, which occurred on April 22, 2025, in Baisaran Valley, Jammu and Kashmir, resulted in the tragic deaths of 26 civilians, predominantly Hindu tourists, prompting a surge in patriotic fervor.
Within just two days following the operation, the Indian Film and Television Producers Council (IFTPC) reportdely received approximately 30 title registration applications and that number is expected to rise to between 50 and 60.
These applications, submitted by prominent Bollywood production houses, include titles such as ‘Operation Sindoor,’ ‘Mission Sindoor,’ ‘Sindoor: The Revenge,’ ‘Pahalgam: The Horrific Terror,’ and ‘The Pahalgam Terror.’

Actors and filmmakers including Suniel Shetty, Madhur Bhandarkar, Vivek Agnihotri, Ashoke Pandit, and production house T-Series are among those who have reportedly submitted applications for titles related to Operation Sindoor.
Notable entities like Reliance Industries, Zee Studios, JP Films, and Bombay Show Studio are among those vying for these titles.
The Indian Motion Picture Producers’ Association (IMPPA) has also reported receiving around 25 title applications within the same period.
The organisation clarified that title allocation is determined by the order of application submission. Reliance Industries Limited was the first to file a trademark application for ‘Operation Sindoor’ under Class 41, which encompasses entertainment, education, cultural, and media services.
However, the company later withdrew its application, stating it was filed inadvertently by a junior employee without proper authorisation.

Trade analyst Atul Mohan told media that such trends have been evident in past projects like ‘Uri: The Surgical Strike’ and ‘Article 370.’
He emphasised that while titles inspired by significant events can aid in marketing, the quality of content remains paramount.
“A person can apply for multiple titles, but the one who applies first will be allotted the title,” Anil Nagrath, Secretary of IMPPA, told PTI.
“Producers usually look for stories that are in the news or strike an emotional chord. Operation Sindoor is something India is proud of, and that’s why filmmakers want to bring this story to the screen,” he added.
