“I Will Not Act With Drug Users”: Vincy Aloshious Recounts Unsettling Experience With Co-Star (Image-Instagram/iam_win.c)
Malayalam actress Vincy Aloshious has been making headlines since she announced her decision to not work with actors who use drugs. Her decision, she stated, stemmed from an unpleasant experience working with a co-star who was allegedly on drugs. Her announcement sparked a debate on social media. Clarifying the speculations, the actress recently dropped a video message on the internet.
At the 67th operational year of KCYM Ernakulam-Angamaly Major Archdiocese, held at Pallippuram Church in Kerala, Vincy said, “If I am aware that someone is using drugs, I will not act in any film with them.” Her statement comes at a time when reports of alleged drug abuse in the Malayalam film industry made headlines last year.

The budding actress’ remarks sparked a debate online, with many sharing their diverse opinions. Even though many supported her decision and appreciateed her courage, her statement also received criticism.
Responding to the criticism, the Rekha actress shared a video where she shared an distressing experience she had while working with an actor who was allegedly on drugs.
Without naming the actor or the film, Vincy said, “When I was part of a film, I had an experience with the main actor. He used drugs and behaved in a way that was completely inappropriate, making it very difficult to continue working with him.”
She said that the man wanted to fix her dress when there was an issue with her clothes. “He also wanted to come with me, saying, ‘I can help get it ready.’ This was said in front of everyone, and it made the situation very uncomfortable,” she added.

Vincy claimed that a white substance was spilling from the actor’s mouth, which confirmed her suspicion about him allegedly using drugs. “It’s one thing to use drugs in your personal life, but when it affects your professional environment, it becomes unacceptable,” she remarked.
Standing by her decision, Vincy also stated that incidents like these prompted her to take a decision that assures safety in the workplace: “I don’t want to work like that. I don’t want to work with someone who isn’t conscious of the impact their actions have on others. This is a decision based on my personal experience and I stand by it,” she added.
Talking about the social media reactions, she said that she might lose out on her opportunities in films. “But I want to say it openly: “If I am aware that someone is using drugs, I will not act in any film with them,” she affirmed.

Starting off her journey with a talent hunt show, Nayika Nayakan, in 2018, Vincy made her debut in 2019 through a comedy drama, Vikruthi. She also won the Kerala State Award for Best Actress for her performance in Rekha. Some of her famous films include Jana Gana Mana, Saudi Vellakka, Padmini and Pazhanjan Pranayam.
