Malayalam actor Shine Tom Chacko has been arrested today, on Saturday, in connection with a drug-related investigation, days after his co-star Vincy Aloshious levelled serious accusations against him.

According to a report by PTI, the actor was taken into custody today, following an intense four-hour police interrogation.

Shine Tom Chacko has been charged under Sections 27 (consumption of narcotic drugs) and 29 (abetment and criminal conspiracy) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

His arrest stems from an incident earlier this week, when he allegedly fled from a Kochi hotel during a drug bust conducted by the DANSAF (District Anti-Narcotics Special Action Force) team.

On Wednesday night, Shine Tom Chacko escaped his third-floor hotel room after spotting the anti-narcotics team.

He reportedly jumped onto a makeshift sheet covering the second floor and exited via the stairs. Following his medical examination, further legal proceedings are expected.

The arrest comes in the wake of serious allegations made by actress Vincy Aloshious, who shared her experiences of a co actor’s alleged drug use and unprofessional behaviour during the filming of a movie.

In her formal complaint to the Kerala Film Chamber and the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC), Vincy claimed she felt unsafe around the actor due to his erratic conduct on set.

She further alleged witnessing him exhaling a white, powdery substance during a rehearsal—an act she believed pointed to drug use.

Although Vincy initially sought confidentiality during the inquiry, she later expressed disappointment that her identity had not been protected as promised.

The controversy began when Vincy Aloshious posted a video on Monday about her unpleasant on-set experience, where she stated her strong resolve not to work with actors who abuse substances.

The video quickly went viral, leading to widespread speculation about the identity of the accused co-star. After much online chatter, her official complaint confirmed that the actor she was referring to was Shine Tom Chacko.
