Indian 2 - An Intro: "Come Back Indian" Chants Creates Waves (image:instagram.com/lycaproductions)With the rhythmic chant of “Come Back Indian,” Kamal Haasan starrer Indian 2 first glimpse is out. Titled as “Indian 2 – An Intro,” the 1:58 minute video is receiving massive response from the viewers in the few hours of its release. The movie is the sequel to Indian (1996), where Mr Haasan portrayed the role of Senapathy/Indian, a freedom fighter who turns into a vigilante to fight against corruption.
The intro video opens with Kamal Haasan’s dialogue:”Wherever injustice happens, I will appear. Indian is immortal,” and ends with actor in soldier uniform announcing, “Indian is back.” The video shows corruption is engulfed in all areas of government, and general public has been asked money for all services. Stricken by corruption, people trends #ComeBackIndian.
Helmed by Shankar, the movie is bankrolled by Subaskaran under the banner of Lyca Productions and co-produced by Red Giant Movies. Indian 2 presents a stellar cast including Sidharth, Kajal Agarwal, Rakul Preet Singh, SJ Surya, Bobby Simha, Vivek, Priya Bhavani Shankar, Brahmanandam, Samuthirakani, Nedumudi Venu, Delhi Ganesh, Manobala, Jagan, Kalidas Jayaram, Gulshan Grover, Zakir Hussain, Piyush Mishra, and Akhilendra Mishra. The music is scored by Anirudh Ravichander and cinematography by Ravi Varman.
Though Indian 2 was announced in 2019, due to numerous reasons, production has been put on halt. Rajinikanth unveiled the teaser in Tamil, while Aamir Khan, Kichcha Sudeepa, Mohanlal and filmmaker S.S. Rajamouli in Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, and Telugu respectively.
The movie is set to release in 2024.
