Since the release of Amar Singh Chamkila on Netflix, the Punjabi track “Vida Karo” has been melting our souls. The hearbreaking song has been composed by AR Rahman and was sung by Arijit Singh and Jonita Gandhi in the movie. A recent video of the jamming session where Jonita Gandhi singing the song is receiving love on the internet.

In the impromptu musical session, as Jonita Gandhi sang “Vida Karo”, a group sitting alongside her joined the song, meanwhile, one played harmonium for the track. In the video, Music maestro AR Rahman and Director Imtiaz Ali seems to be grooving on the Jonita”s music along with many others involved in the musical trance.

Social media is showering with love for this rendition and comments that the “Vida Karo couldn”t get better than this.”

“Mainu Vida Karo ji”, has been inspired by a poem written by late poet Shiv Kumar Batalvi. Amar Singh Chamkila, a biographical drama helmed by Imtiaz Ali, and starred by Diljit Dosanjh and Parineeti Chopra is receiving all praises of both critics and audience.

Known as “Elvis of Punjab”,  Amar Singh Chamkila was a sensation in punjabi music scene. His lyrics and voice has influenced generations even in his brief period of folk music career. His songs enthralled the rural Punjabi audience for its rawness, and innovativeness in composition. The bold lyrics, which delved into themes including extramarital relationships, drug abuse, sexuality, alcoholism, and male gaze, which gained popularity, have also invited controversies.
