Hollywood actor Joaquin Phoenix set off a tidal wave with his abrupt departure from a gay romantic film before five days of its production. The actor is expected to face legal issues for his sudden withdrawal.

The Joker fame actor dropped from the untitled detective love story, which was to be directed by Todd Haynes, due to a last-minute decision. Reports suggest that the actor felt “cold feet” about his role in the movie which led to his eventual departure.

This action of the actor has stumped the makers who had built an entire set in Guadalajara. The Academy Award-winning actor had abandoned the project in early July,  just before its Mexican schedule kicked-off. The actor’s setback has stirred the whole cast and crew, and the makers are expected to take legal action against Phoenix.

The departure was particularly surprising, as reports stated that Phoenix first brought the project to Haynes and his longtime producers at Killer Films, headed by Christine Vachon and Pamela Koffler. The reason for his withdrawal is kept under wraps.

The untitled film was set to narrate an intense gay romance of the 1930s. The film also stars Captain America: Brave New World’s fame Danny Ramirez.  Even though reports suggest that the actor got cold feet over the production, no official statements have been made on Phoenix’s behalf.
