Kamal Haasan’s Birthday Wish For Mohanlal: “Looking Forward Him To Beat Prem Nazir’s Record”

On Malayalam great Mohanlal’s birthday, another great film personality has wished him with a creative demand. Kamal Haasan wants Mohanlal, who has crossed 300 films in his career spanning more than four decades of acting in various languages and genres, to beat the record of another Malayalam great, Prem Nazir. Though Prem Nazir, one of the most influential actors in Indian cinema, has more than 700 movies in his name, Kamal wants to beat a record of 500, which he hasn’t specified.

“Lead man for forty years among a very critical and discerning audience. 400 films? Some might exclaim in disbelief. I, on the contrary, am looking forward to him beat Mr. Prem Nazir’s record of 500 films. On his birthday, that is my best wish to him. The best of health to you, Mr. @Mohanlal, to break many more records,” Kamal wrote.

Both Mohanlal and Kamal Haasan have maintained a special friendship over the years, with both expressing their admiration for the other throughout the years. In November last year, Mohanlal shared the Malayalam teaser of Haasan’s upcoming Indian 2 with the caption, “Namaskaram India, INDIAN IS BACK…Presenting INDIAN – 2 AN INTRO.”

The two legendary actors shared the screen in the 2009 release Unnaipol Oruvan, an action thriller directed by Charki Toleti, which was his debut. The film is a remake of Neeraj Pandey’s 2008 Hindi film A Wednesday, starring Naseeruddin Shah and Anupam Kher in the lead roles. Unnaipol Oruvan, both a critical and commercial hit, was noted especially for the powerful performances by both superstars.

Meanwhile, Mohanlal will be next seen in the highly anticipated sequel to the superhit Lucifer, titled Empuraan, also directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran. Another upcoming project is the superstar’s directorial debut, Barroz, which will hit theatres on September 12.
