"Women Shouldn't Have An Opinion": Actress Gouri Kishan Opens Up About Body Shaming Experience
After a huge shoutout following her bold reply to a journalist who asked about her weight during a recent film promotion event in Chennai, actress Gouri Kishan on Saturday, November 8, opened up about the body shaming experience she went through.
The actress on Saturday issued an official statement on the issue, stating that comments or question that targets a person’s physical appearance is inappropriate in any context. Stating that it is not an invitation to target any individual, the actress added that let people move forward with greater empathy, sensitivity and respect for all sides.

Speaking to news agency ANI, the actress said that her co-actor was asked what her weight was like as he was seen picking her up in some romance sequences in the movie. “The second question to the director was that it was a miscasting because the hero is so tall, and I am out of shape or short,” the actress said.

Gauri further pointed out that the reporter then surprisingly defended her argument for a long time. “For some people in the press, women are just there, they should not have an opinion,” the actress said, adding that she was sidelined for the same reason, and it is being normalized.
“It is my choice. What I do with my body is only my choice. This has to stop because it is really not okay. It may lead to mental health issues, self-confidence and self-esteem,” the actress underlined in a video shared by the news agency.
