Amidst controversies and copyright issues, Lady Superstar, aka Nayanthara’s, Netflix documentary series, Nayanthara: Beyond The Fairytale, is releasing today, on the occasion of the star’s 40th birthday.
With the internet filled with heartfelt birthday wishes for the actress, social media is divided over the legal conflict between the actress and actor Dhanush. After a series of notifications from both sides, the documentary series has been released on Netflix on the occasion of the star’s big day.

Presenting the documentary series to his beloved wife, director Vignesh Shivan took to his social media handle and wrote, “Happy Birthday my uyir (love and kiss emojis). My respect for you is million times more than the love I have for you! For who you are my thangamey. And as I wrote, I gave it to you.. Kadal Mannai pola un Kalodu otti” (Lyrics of the song from his movie Naanum Rowdy Dhaan).
The copyright battle between Dhanush and Nayanthara captured the attention of the public and raised expectations over the release of the documentary. The issue sparked since the release of the trailer of the documentary, which featured snippets from the 2015-released film, Naanum Rowdy Dhaan, directed by Vignesh Shivan with Nayanthara as a lead.
The producer of the film, Dhanush, claimed copyright for the usage of clips of the duo taken from the shooting spot. The Jawan actress addressed the issue through an open letter posted on her social media and stated that Rs 10 crore was demanded from them for using a three-second snippet of songs from Naanum Rowdy Dhaan for the documentary.

The Netflix creation is aimed at narrating the untold story of Nayanthara behind the stardom. The documentary will portray the struggles and the challenges the actress faced and the beautiful love story of the beloved couple.
Nayanthara and director Vignesh got married in June 2022 and have twin sons, Uyir and Ulag. The couple’s response to Dhanush’s lawsuit has added fuel to the fire with many celebrities also taking sides, making this a highly publicized celebrity feud.
