Nayanthara, the Lady superstar, has issued strong rebuttal statement against Dhanush’s legal notice over her upcoming Netflix documentary, Nayanathara: Beyond the Fairytale. In an open letter posted on her official account, the Pan Indian actress has condemned to what she referred it to as the “vengeance” Dhanush harboured over the years, particularly in relation to the use of clips from their 2015 film, Nannum Rowdy Thaan.
She also added that it was a ‘low’ move to demand Rs 10 crore from them to use a three-second snippet of songs from the film for the documentary.

The upcoming Netflix documentary will explore her love story with Vignesh. Their love story bloomed from the sets of the film, ‘Naanum Rowdy Dhaan’, which was produced by Dhanush under his banner Wunderbar Films.

The film was originally announced in 2013 with different cast, however, in 2014, Dhanush took over the project and cast Nayanthara and Vijay Sethupathi in the lead roles.
Vignesh once during in an interview has opened up that Dhanush has not just saved his film but has also played cupid for him and Nayanthara. “Vignesh said, “Dhanush sir made me narrate the story to Nayan. She liked it. Once she came on board, I was able to cast actor Vijay Sethupathy, who was initially not keen to do this film. He was not convinced about the script. But he agreed after Nayan said yes. The movie paved the way for me to spend a lot of time around her. We got involved within a year.” He added, “We just went with the flow. After three months, we both knew that this was it.” Vignesh was both the writer and director of the film.
During an award show, when she received the Best Actress Filmfare Award for her performance, Nayanthara shared that Dhanush didn’t like her performance in the film. She said, “I have to say sorry to Dhanush because he absolutely hated my performance in Naanum Rowdy Dhaan. Sorry Dhanush for disappointing you. I will probably make it better next time.”
She in her open letter, in reference to this incident has wrote, “I have not forgotten all the horrible things that you said about the film that was one of your biggest hits as a producer and a film that is loved by all even today. The words you said pre-release have left some unbeatable scars to us already. I learnt through film circles that your ego was supremely hurt after the film became a blockbuster. Your displeasure over its success was perceptible even to common man through award functions connected with this film (Filmfare 2016).”

Nayanthara’s Netflix documentary will be released on November 18, to coincide with her birthday.
