Pranav Mohanlal’s Horror Thriller Diés Iraé Drops Official Release Trailer

The highly anticipated Malayalam mystery-horror thriller Diés Iraé has unveiled its official release trailer today, offering fans a first full glimpse into what promises to be a haunting and suspense-filled cinematic experience.

Starring Pranav Mohanlal in his first foray into the horror genre, the film is written and directed by Rahul Sadasivan and produced by Chakravarthy Ramachandra and S. Sashikanth under the banners of Night Shift Studios and YNOT Studios.

The 1-minute-17-second trailer teases a story that is both eerie and intense, hinting at a wild yet emotionally resonant narrative that stays true to the horror-thriller genre.

From unsettling visuals to a tense atmosphere, the trailer builds anticipation for a film that aims to engage the audience not just with scares but with a gripping storyline.

The project was first reported in December 2024, when industry analysts revealed that Pranav Mohanlal had been cast in a horror film directed by Rahul Sadasivan.

Filming began officially on 24 March 2025 and wrapped up by 29 April 2025, completing the shoot in just over a month. Rahul retained the core technical team from his previous film, Bramayugam, ensuring a continuity of visual and narrative style.

Shehnad Jalal served as the cinematographer, capturing the film’s dark and atmospheric visuals. Jothish Shankar was the production designer, while editing was handled by Shafique Mohammed Ali.

The action sequences were directed by Kalai Kingson, and the soundscape—critical to building tension—was created by Jayadevan Chakkadath, with sound mixing by M. R. Rajakrishnan.

The film’s music, composed by Christo Xavier, complements its mysterious and chilling tone. The soundtrack includes the track “The Day of Wrath,” which runs for 3 minutes and 45 seconds and is set to release alongside the film in October 2025.

The film’s title, Diés Iraé, translates to “Day of Wrath” in Latin, referencing a medieval hymn associated with Judgment Day. According to director Rahul Sadasivan, the film explores “a diametrically opposite emotional spectrum” compared to his previous works, connecting with a new generation while remaining firmly within the horror-thriller space.
