This is the day, that reminds us of the Indian-Punjabi rapper Siddhu Moosewale, the one who popularised rap culture in the rural parts of India and inspired a generation of young Punjabis to proudly accept their roots. He was shot dead at the age of 28.

Shubhdeep Singh Siddhu, fondly known as Siddhu Moosewale, the one who blended Punjabi music with hip-hop and rap genres, crafted a unique musical treat for the Punjabi audience, his musical career took off as a songwriter, after he graduated from college.

His inspiring musical journey started with his debut single “G-Wagon” in 2017. Following this, his musical exploration extended as his debut studio album ‘PBX 1’ peaked at No.66 on the Billboard Canadian Albus Tally. The Punjabi rapper did not chart any songs on the Hot 100. During his career, he collaborated with Burna Boy, Sunny Malton, Stefflon Don, and others.

Through his lyrics and delivery, which incorporated the art of the region’s folk music and hip hops, the singer inspired a generation of young panjabi living in India and abroad to proudly accept their roots. Siddhu Moose Waala, became a household name in Punjab and among the diaspora Sikh population in the UK and Canada, as he released three albums and more than 60 singles.

On the remembrance of his son’s second death anniversary, Siddhu’s father Balkaur Singh has announced to organise a simple program today. On the eve of his death anniversary, his home village paid tribute to the inspiring artist with statues, busts, and photographs. On the remembrance of the death of the greatest Punjabi artist, the congress party also posted on the Twitter handle stating “Today, we remember Sidhu Moose Wala, an outstanding rap artist, and a splendid musician, on his death anniversary.
