Shah Rukh Khan, the IMDb Top Popular Indian Star of 2023
With two consecutive massive blockbusters on bag, Bollywood’s King actor Shah Rukh Khan was crowned IMDb’s Most Popular Indian Star of the year 2023. The iconic star titled the unique list on Wednesday, which was determined based on the actual page views of more than 200 million monthly visitors to IMDb worldwide. Both of his two hits of 2023 were dramatically unrivaled and the Badshaah of Bollywood sharply escalated his worldwide fan interest.
Bollywood actress and 2023 national award winner Alia Bhatt positioned second in the list, where Deepika Padukone and Wamiqa Gabbi secured third and fourth positions respectively. Nayanthara, the south Indian star actress who made her Bollywood debut this year with King Khan in Jawan secured the fifth while Tamannaah Bhatia came sixth. The next four positions were respectively given for Kareena Kapoor Khan, Sobhita Dhulipala, Akshay Kumar, and Vijay Sethupathi.

Shah Rukh Khan earned almost Rs 2200 crores world-wide from both of his releases of 2023. His third film of the year Dunki is all set to unleash another hit moment for the legendary actor by December. The list is an incredible achievement for the Atlee directorial Jawan, as the movie had its three of the lead actors placed in the popular list – Shah Rukh Khan, Nayanthara, and Vijay Sethupathi.
Alia Bhatt sustained her rank two position from last year, by stepping into her villainous role in Heart of Stone. She also projected one of the biggest hits of her career with Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. Alia Bhatt also made her Met Gala debut earlier this year, while her 2022 film RRR went on to win an Academy Award and a Golden Globe for Best Original Song.
Deepika Padukone took the spot with her highly discussed role in Pathaan. In the movie, she reunited with Shah Rukh Khan and also appeared in an extended cameo role in Jawan. Both of the movies collected over ten billion and emerged as her highest-grossing Indian releases. Her appearance on the chat show Koffee with Karan Season 8 with her husband Ranveer Singh also made headlines and the footages were highly appreciated.
Wamiqa Gabbi took the fourth and made her debut spotting in the list. Her major roles in streaming titles such as Jubilee, Charlie Chopra and the Mystery of Solang Valley, and Khufiya supported her to get recognised. Tamannaah Bhatia had three major streaming projects this year – Lust Stories 2, Jee Karda, and Aakhri Sach. Besides she appeared in various languages and platforms, and her cameo in Rajinikanth starrer Jailer went on headlines.
Kareena Kapoor Khan made her OTT debut with Jaane Jaan, and her movie The Buckingham Murders had its world premiere at the BFI London Film Festival. Akshay Kumar managed a position among the list, even though he continued struggling in the box office despite appearing in the hit film OMG 2 this year. Vijay Sethupathi made his Bollywood debut this year with Jawan and Farzi was his first Indian web series.
