‘Spectacular’ In One Word: Tiger 3 Is A Pure Action Extravaganza

The Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif starrer Hindi-language action thriller Tiger 3 hit the theatre screens on Sunday, coinciding the festivities of Diwali across the nation. The Maneesh Sharma directorial, from the upcoming reviews, is all charged to another blockbuster from the YRF (Yashraj Films) Spy Universe. According to India Today, the possibility of other spies in the universe – Hrithik Roshan’s Kabir and Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan – to cross over and make their presence felt in Tiger’s world is more than just a passable thought.

The plot, as clearly depicted in the trailer, revolves around the India-Pakistan relationship. The underground spy war is the major theme and, in the movie, the Tiger”s mission is to heal ties and prevent a military coup and the assassination of the Pakistani prime minister.

Tiger, played by Salman Khan, is assigned on a mission to save Jibran Shaikh, an arms supplier, and leaves for Russia. Tiger is an Indian RAW agent. In Russia, he came to learn that Zoya, his wife and the Pakistani Inter-Service Intelligence (ISI) agent is assigned to assassinate Mr Shaikh. Zoya is played by Katrina Kaif. Tiger manages to save Mr Shaikh and confronts Zoya, who reveal that it was Aatish Rehman (played by Imran Hashmi) had forced her to take the mission by keeping Junior hostage. Mr Rehman is an ex-ISI agent and Junior is Zoya’s son.

Later Tiger and Zoya were forced by Mr Rehman for another mission in Istanbul. But the agent couple get soon framed as traitors by their respective countries. The story becomes interesting as Tiger and Zoya set out to take revenge on Mr Rehman.

The movie provided a clear space for Emraan Hashmi, who was much underrated all these times. Mr Hashmi sustains his actor stardom but went out of expectations with his dedication to the experimental role. From the body language to his appearance, everything was just perfect fit and match to Tiger.

“The big-ticket moment that everyone is waiting for comes post internal with Pathaan and Tiger displaying their star power and natural camaraderie to full glory”, said India Today. Katrina Kaif also received huge appreciations, as her power-packed action sequences were well-managed. Her character has a depth and she executed it very well.

To the negative side, the repetition of the same thread – the India and Pakistan premise – was quite uncomfortable as it seems bit outdated. An Indian agent going in rescue of a Pakistani Prime Minister was also bit stretched.

Tiger 3 has everything for an action experience and never disappoints a Salman Khan fan. The movie is sequel to Ek Tha Tiger (2012) and Tiger Zinda Hai (2017), and is the fifth installment in the YRF Spy Universe. YRF assured the movie would be an “incredible visual spectacle with high-octane action sequences, thrilling plot-lines, power-packed characters and musical chartbusters”.
