Alia”s saree is a custom embroidered one which beautifully interpret Met Gala”s this year”s theme – “Sleeping Beauty: Reawakening Fashion”. The dress code for the event was “the Garden of Time”. Alia was styled by Anaita Shroff, who accompanied the star to the Met Gala.
Before the Met Gala, Alia told Vogue that, “the sari”s design, with its translucent, glass-like appearance is not just a nod to the ethereal quality of the garden in Ballard”s story but also a tribute to the exquisite, enduring craft of sari-making”. She added that the sheer audacity of how the saree merges the traditional craftsmanship with the avant-garde aesthetics is what drew her to it. She said Sabyasachi is the perfect choice to deliver the theme of the event as he is known for brining the old-world charm and modern sophistication together.
