Prominent Telugu actors Venkatesh Daggubati and his nephew and actor Rana Daggubati have been booked by the Hyderabad police for the alleged demolition of the Deccan Kitchen Hotel in Film Nagar, Hyderabad.
As per reports, along with the actors, two other members of the Daggubati family have also been named in the case. The action comes after the directive from a local court, which ordered the police to register a case over the family.
According to official records, the Daggubati family had leased their property in Film Nagar to Nanda Kumar, a businessman. Nanda had been operating the Deccan Kitchen hotel on the leased land. However, tensions arose over the lease agreement between the Daggubati family and Nanda Kumar, resulting in legal disputes.
Besides Rana and Venkatesh, a case has also been registered against Suresh Rana (father of actor Rana Daggubati) and actor Rana’s brother, Abhiram Daggubati. The individuals have been booked under sections 448, 452, 458, and 120B of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
Nanda Kumar claimed that the family unlawfully demolished two properties in Jubilee Hills, violating active court orders from both the City Civil Court and the Telangana High Court. He also accused the film family of forcibly entering the premises and causing significant damage.
He further stated that the demolition was carried out despite an existing injunction from the City Civil Court and contrary to the orders of the Telangana High Court. Kumar further claimed that the demolition caused him a financial loss of Rs 20 crore. The local court, in response to the petition, has ordered the police to investigate the matter.

Previously, in November 2022, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) demolished parts of the Deccan Kitchen Hotel and adjacent structures constructed by Nanda Kumar, citing them as unauthorised constructions.
The action led the Telangana High Court to demand an explanation from GHMC in July 2023 and order the civic body to maintain the status quo on the property.
