Vidya Balan Joins Jailer 2 As Rajinikanth’s Formidable Antagonist

Vidya Balan is set to make her full-fledged Tamil cinema debut with Jailer 2, where she is likely to play a key antagonist named Kantha opposite Rajinikanth.

The actor’s character was recently introduced through a stylised glimpse from the upcoming action comedy, directed by Nelson Dilipkumar.

The film marks Balan’s first full-length Tamil role after her brief appearance in Ajith Kumar’s Nerkonda Paarvai in 2019.

Her character Kantha is reportedly connected to the antagonist played by veteran actor Mithun Chakraborty, who is also part of the sequel’s extensive ensemble.

Jailer 2 reunites Rajinikanth as Tiger Muthuvel Pandian with Nelson, following the success of Jailer (2023).

The sequel also brings back Ramya Krishnan, Yogi Babu, Mirnaa and Rithvik, while S. J. Suryah, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Jatin Sarna, Anna Rajan and several others join the cast.

Jatin Sarna has been reported to play the principal antagonist opposite Rajinikanth, while the film also features prominent cameo appearances by Mohanlal and Shiva Rajkumar.

Vijay Sethupathi and Hrithik Roshan are also listed for cameo appearances, adding to the film’s star-studded cast.

Produced by Kalanithi Maran under Sun Pictures, Jailer 2 has music by Anirudh Ravichander, cinematography by Vijay Kartik Kannan and editing by R. Nirmal.
