“Kaathal – The Core“, a Mammootty and Jyothika upcoming movie is gearing up to hit theatres on November 23. According to a report, the Governments of Kuwait and Qatar banned the movie. Many Indian films have been banned by the two governments as of lately for the reason of the storylines not being suit to the countries’ ideologies.
The reason for banning Kaathal – The Core in Kuwait and Qatar was due to the story that deals with homosexuality, which is against the two countries ideologies. It is for the first time that Mammootty and Jyothika are joining hands together for a project.
The ban could prove to be a disappointment to Mammootty’s huge fan base in Middle East, most of whom are Keralites. At a promotional event of the movie, the south superstar claimed the movie to have a revolutionary subject. The movie also marks the come back of south actress Jyothika Mollywood after a long time.
Helmed by Jeo Baby, the movie is produced by Mammootty under the banner of Mammootty Kampany. Kaathal’s screenplay is written by Adarsh Sukumaran, and Paulson Skaria. The movie will be screened at the International Film Festival of Kerala.
The music for Kaathal is scored by Mathews Pulickan, and cinematography is handled by Salu K Thomas. Apart from Mammotty and Jyotika, the star cast includes Joji John, Jisshu Sengupta, Chinnu Chandni, Muthumani, Sudhi Kozhikode, Alex Alister, and Anagha Akku.
