Mammootty“s upcoming movie, Kaathal The Core“s official trailer released on Tuesday and is receiving immense response. Within a day of its release, it grossed over 1 million views and is currently trending on number 2. Helmed by Jeo Baby, the movie is produced by Mammootty under the banner of Mammootty Kampany. Kaathal“s screenplay is written by Adarsh Sukumaran, and Paulson Skaria.
The trailer opens with voice over of Mammotty: “I am Mathew Devassy” and in the heavy pouring rain on screen an election poster featuring Devassy as a candidate in local polls slowly appears in clarity. In subsequent short scenes in an array, Devassy is placed to the centre and in focus. There is a by-election and a “mysterious” legal battle in question. Jyotika the female lead alongside appears in scenes heavy in thoughts, and her silence conveys lot of weight and ache.
Toward the end of the trailer his voice over continues: “I am the kind of person who doesn”t speak much to anybody. Besides, we have been married for almost 20 years. What is more left to talk about now?” Following a scene shows Mammotty and Jyotika traveling in a car, where former drives, but both remain silent.
In silence, minimal dialogues, and queries the intensity of this relationship drama is hinted. Besides, background scores resonates well with the emotional tonality of the visuals.
The music for Kaathal is scored by Mathews Pulickan, and cinematography is handled by Salu K Thomas. Apart from Mammotty and Jyotika, the star cast includes Joji John, Jisshu Sengupta, Chinnu Chandni, Muthumani, Sudhi Kozhikode, Alex Alister, and Anagha Akku.
The movie is slated to hit theatres on November 23.
