After watching Vikrant Massey’s latest film ‘12th fail’, unable to contain the astonishment and admiration for the masterpiece, the chairman of the Mahindra group, Anand Mahindra wrote on X, “Finally saw ‘12th FAIL’ over this past weekend. If you see only ONE film this year, make it this one.”
The business tycoon not only praised the film’s director Vidhu Vinod Chopra for his impeccable casting and narrative style but also applauded Vikrant Massey’s performance.
He then listed factors why the audience should watch this piece of art. Mahindra said the plot of the story is not just the story of the protagonist but of real-life heroes of our country. It is ‘the story of millions of youth, hungry for success, who struggle against extraordinary odds to pass what is arguably one of the most competitive exams in the world’, he wrote.

Praising the outstanding performance displayed by the lead actor, Vikrant Massey, the businessman penned, “he was not just acting out of the character’s life, he was living it”. He also praised the other castings of the film. “Each character is credible in the role & they turn in gritty, passionate performances,” he said.
Mahindra lauded the narrative style chosen by the director as he reminded the audience that ‘great cinema is about great stories’ and ‘special effects are no match for the simplicity and authenticity of a story told’.
He further appreciated the interview scene in the film, “The highlight for me was the interview scene. Yes, it may seem a bit contrived, but the profound dialogue makes this sequence hit you squarely between the eyes and shows you what India must do to build a new Bharat.”
“Mr Chopra, yeh dil maange more films like this!” Anand concluded.
