Congress leader and Member of Parliament Rahul Gandhi recently shared his experience from a visit to a chocolate factory in Ooty. Ooty (short for Udhagamandalam) is a resort town in the Western Ghats mountains, in southern India”s Tamil Nadu state.

Mr Gandhi visited Moddys Chocolate, The All-Women Chocolate Factory, and praised the women team behind the successful running of it. He specially mentioned the potential of MSME”s (Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises) on behalf the factory.

“A team of 70 incredible women drives one of Ooty’s famous chocolate factories!”, Mr Gandhi wrote on X (formerly Twitter) sharing the video on Sunday.

“The story of Moddys Chocolates is a remarkable testament to the great potential of India”s MSMEs”, he added.

“Here”s what unfolded during my recent visit to the Nilgiris”, he said while presenting his experiences at Moodys.

Mr Gandhi sought detailed information on how the chocolate and associated products are made at Moddys, where 70 women are employed to do the various tasks. He turned into a baker and learned the process of chocolate making.

He is seen also trying to learn Tamil language.

Mr Gandhi visited the famous hill town situated in the Nilgiris while on his way to his Lok Sabha constituency in Kerala”s Wayanad.

“The entrepreneurial spirit of the couple behind this small business, Muralidhar Rao and Swati, is inspiring. Equally remarkable is the all-women team which works alongside them. This dedicated team of 70 women crafts some of the most exquisite couverture chocolates I”ve ever tasted,” Gandhi noted while sharing the full video on his YouTube channel.
