"Asked To Access Website": RTI Activist Says He Couldn't Get PM Modi's 10th,12th Record

As debates on Prime Minister Modi‘s college degree continue simmering, RTI activist Ajay Bose today expressed his disappointment over not getting information about PM Modi’s 10th and 12th education to his query.

Taking to his social media platform X, the activist said he filed an RTI seeking information in which year PM Narendra Modi passed 10th and 12th Standard, but the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), according to Bose, asked him to access a website (http://pmindia.gov.in), in its reply.

“But when I searched for info I couldn’t find. Can anyone please find for me the website mentioned and share it?” wrote the activist on his X handle. Tagging Prime Minister Modi, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and many others, he also shared the screenshot of the RIT reply.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of fabricating his degree. Though the Registrar of Delhi University told the media that records had indeed been verified and that the Bachelor of Arts degree awarded to Modi was authentic, the debates about the education of the Prime Minister simmer.

A report by The Quint pointed out the media house procured the marksheet of a Modi contemporary who took his BA Part III examination in 1978, the same year as Modi, and noted that in Modi’s marksheets, his name has been variously spelled as Narendra Damoderdas Mody, Narendra Kumar Damodardas Modi, and Narendra Kumar Damodar Das Modi.

In his election affidavits, Modi has described that he completed his undergraduate degree through a distance learning program from Delhi University in 1978 and, later, his MA from Gujarat University in 1983.

However, the Prime Minister’s old interview, allegedly admitting himself that he was not well educated, has been pointed out by many to substantiate the claims about his higher education.
