'Compromised': Outrage Grows As PM Modi Remains Silent On US Missile Strike That Killed 3 Indians

New Delhi: Outrage is growing over Prime Minister Modi’s silence over the US military strike on the Palau-flagged oil tanker MT Settebello near the Strait of Hormuz off the coast of Oman, that killed three Indians.

While 21 Indian sailors were rescued by Omani authorities, three crew members were found dead in the US missile strike. Notably, another merchant vessel with Indian crew members off the Oman coast by the US strike, raising concerns over India’s maritime security in the region.

In a social media post, Congress noted there was no statement or condemnation from Prime Minister Modi as usual. The post pointed out that the prime minister is busy reposting compliments for becoming India’s longest-serving continuously elected Prime Minister, surpassing first prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru’s record.

Protesting the Prime Minister’s silence on the US attacks on ships that killed Indians, Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi on Friday said that this is not India’s foreign policy, and rather the personal foreign policy of the prime minister.

“If the Prime Minister is compromised, our foreign policy is compromised. Donald Trump knows exactly what Modi can do and what not,” Rahul Gandhi said while speaking to the media.
