Bengaluru, Karnataka: A total of three members of a family were allegedly stabbed to death inside a KR Puram apartment in Bengaluru recently. Police suspect the accused as the victims’ elder daughter and her boyfriend.

The deceased include a couple and their 19-year-old daughter identified as Soma Sundar, 52, his wife Muthu Lakshmi, 48, and their 19-year-old daughter Supriya. According to the police, the couple’s elder daughter and her boyfriend stabbed them multiple times, leading to the trio’s tragic death.

The incident  took place in an apartment where the couple’s elder daughter, Shwetha, had been living with her boyfriend Kenneth for the past two months. Police suspect that the killing may be linked to the family’s opposition to the live-in relationship. An argument reportedly broke out when the couple and their younger daughter visited the flat, which then escalated into the fatal stabbing. After the incident, Shwetha and Kenneth fled the scene and remain on the run.

KR Puram police have formed multiple teams to trace the duo and have launched a search across the city. A case of murder has been registered. According to the police,  the couple allegedly attacked the family following an argument over financial issues and later fled the scene, according to investigators. Preliminary investigation has revealed that Shwetha and Kenneth had reportedly taken loans from multiple banks and were facing difficulties repaying their EMIs. Bank notices issued in Shwetha’s name allegedly reached her parents’ residence in Ramamurthynagar, following which the family confronted the couple over the issue.

Police said Somasundar, Muttulakshmi and Supriya had gone to meet Shwetha and Kenneth to discuss the loan-related matter. A heated argument allegedly broke out during the meeting, after which the accused couple allegedly stabbed the three family members.

The incident sent shockwaves through the neighborhood. Police have appealed to the public for any information on the whereabouts of the accused persons.
