Case Filed Against ‘Audi Driver’ Journalist Who Attacked Ola Driver In Mumbai
A case has been filed by the Parksite Police against two individuals for assaulting a cab driver in Ghatkopar, Mumbai. The incident, which went viral on social media after a CCTV footage emerged, occurred when an Audi, driven by journalist Rishabh Chakravorty, collided with the cab of Qaymuddin Mainuddin Qureshi, a 24-year-old driver from Govandi. After the crash, Qureshi confronted Chakravorty, demanding compensation for the damage. Instead of addressing the issue, Chakravorty fled the scene, leading Qureshi to follow him to his residence on LBS Marg.
Upon arrival, a second collision occurred when Qureshi dashed his cab into Chakravorty’s vehicle. The situation escalated as Chakravorty assaulted Qureshi, which is evident on the CCTV visuals, slapping him and throwing him to the ground. The cab driver sustained serious head injuries and was initially taken to Rajawadi Hospital before being transferred to JJ Hospital for further treatment.
The police have registered an FIR under sections 115, 117, 351(2), and 352 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), with CCTV footage corroborating the incident. Senior officer Santosh Ghatekar confirmed that the statements of Chakravorty and his wife have been recorded, though no arrests have been made. Investigations are ongoing, a Mumbai Police statement said.
“An FIR has been registered under sections 115,117, 351 (2), and 352 of BNS (Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita). The accused identified as Rishabh Chakravorty, is a journalist by profession. Santosh Ghatekar, the senior police officer of the Parksite Police Station said Rishabh Chakravorty dashed the cab with his car near Asalpha village in Ghatkopar after which the cab driver stopped him and asked to compensate for the damage caused to his vehicle. But Chakravorty drove away without paying any attention. After this the cab driver followed Chakravorty to his residence on LBS Marg in Ghatkopar and when Chakravorty stopped his car, the cab driver dashed his car from behind, after which the accused slapped the victim driver and threw him on the ground. The statement of journalist Rishabh Chakravorty and his wife has been recorded by the police,” news agency ANI quoted Mumbai Police as saying.
