Class 9 Student Gang Raped At Thalambur Near Chennai

A class nine girl was abducted and gang-raped near Thalambur on Friday night. The accused includes two juveniles and 23-year-old Sundar. The police had arrested all the suspects and have sent the minors to a correctional home in Chengalpet while Sundar is remanded in judicial custody, reports Times of India

Police said that the survivor who usually returns home after tuition classes around 7:30 pm, did not return home on time on Friday. The family began searching for her following her delay. When the family contacted the tuition center, they said that she had left around 7:15 pm. The family had also checked her friend’s home as well.

Around 9 pm, the survivor returned home with her clothes torn and injuries all over her body. The family immediately admitted her to the nearby hospital and informed the police.

Following the complaint, the police informed child welfare committee officials and arrived at the hospital for an inquiry. The police said that the incident had taken place half a kilometer away from home. The accused took her to a secluded place and raped her repeatedly before escaping. The victim who lost her consciousness returned back home after regaining her memory.

Based on the details the victim provided, the police has tracked down the suspects. A POCSO case has been registered against the accused. The case was transferred to the Chitlapakkam all-women police station.

A similar incident took place in Assam’s Nagaon district where a 14-year-old was allegedly gang-raped and dumped on the roadside by three men at Dhing. The family of the victim claimed that two men allegedly gang-raped their minor daughter in the same area on Friday.

The incident took place when the girl along with her brother was returning home after dropping their grandmother.

Meanwhile, the accused are currently on the run. As per the police sources, the medical examination of the victims has been conducted and the reports are awaited to confirm the allegations of rape by the girl’s family. The victim was released after receiving medical assistance.
