A 21-year-old final-year computer science student was arrested on Friday for recording inside a women’s toilet using his mobile phone. The accused, Kushal Gowda hid in the lady’s toilet and placed his mobile phone in the ventilator to record.

Kushal is a student at a private engineering college near Kumbalagodu on Mysuru Road. The police investigation found that Kushal, a resident of Chikkagollarahatti, Magadi Road had placed his mobile phone in the gap between the walls of the adjacent toilet.

The police officials said the accused was caught red-handed in the act. A girl who entered the toilet noticed a mobile phone placed in the gap of the wall. She quickly raised the alarm. Soon after coming out of the toilet, she immediately locked the adjacent toilet from outside. “Later others came and dragged Kushal outside and locked him from inside the principal’s chamber. After receiving a complaint from the college management, we arrested him and seized the mobile phone,” the police officials said.

When the seized mobile was checked, the police found a recording for nearly 15 minutes. “The girl raised the alarm by 10:45 am. It means he entered the toilet and placed the mobile around 10:30 am”, the police said. However, the police said that the management of the college should also be blamed as the CCTV camera installed near the women’s toilet was not working, and the management did not bother to deploy a woman attendant near the toilet.
