“Do Whatever You Want…”: PM Modi To Congress On Poll Code Violation Charges

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday accused the Congress Party of playing politics over people-friendly policies. The Congress had alleged that Modi violated the code of conduct by announcing an extension of the free ration scheme ahead of the Chhattisgarh election.

In an election speech in Damoh, Madhya Pradesh, Modi said he would stick to his decision to extend the scheme despite the challenges, including the allegation of violating the code of conduct.

“They (Congress) are talking about approaching the EC and complaining against Modi. “How could he talk about giving free ration to the poor?” “What does Modi think of himself?” Do whatever you want; I will accept whatever punishment comes my way, but I will not abandon my work for the poor,” he said.

Modi interpreted Congress”s allegation as anti-social, claiming they were trying to hinder his people-friendly policies only for electoral gains.

“Let them commit this sin; I will continue to do good work for the people,” Modi said addressing a public meeting in Madhya Pradesh”s Damoh town ahead of the November 17 state assembly polls.

Eighty crore people will get free ration for the next five years, he added.

Modi also said he would continue to fight against corruption despite being abused for it.

He pointed out that people gave power to the Congress in Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan, but their chief ministers were found involved in “satta” (betting) and generating black money.
