Driven By Jealousy Over Beauty, Haryana Woman Kills Multiple Children In 2 Years; Arrested (Photo on X@RakeshKishore)
Panipat, Haryana: A 32-year-old woman has shaken Haryana’s Panipat after police uncovered the horrific case of serial killing by the accused woman. Haryana police recently arrested a woman accused of drowning four children over the past two years, including her own three-year-old son.
The motive of the murder is rather shocking as the accused woman was driven by her obsessive jealousy of the children’s beauty to take their lives. The accused woman, identified as Poonam, targeted children within her family and extended relatives from 2023 to 2025.

Appearing to be a psychopath, the woman allegedly believed that no woman in her family should be more beautiful than her, India Today reported, quoting Panipat Superintendent of Police Bhupender Singh.
The first case happened in 2023 in Bhawar village in Sonipat, where Poonam allegedly drowned her sister-in-law’s nine-year-old daughter. She also killed her own three-year-old son to make the deaths appear accidental and thus avoid suspicion.

The second incident occurred in August 2025 where she used the same method to kill her cousin’s six-year-old daughter in Sewah village. On December 1, after the death of Poonam’s niece, six-year-old Vidhi, during a wedding function in Naulakha village, the whole episode came to light.
Police found Vidhi’s body in a small water tub, locked from outside, making accidental drowning highly unlikely. The CCTV footage also confirmed Poonam’s movements around the scene. The woman, during the interrogation, later confessed to all four murders.
Police say that the accused is highly educated but a psychopathic person. She would meticulously plan the killings, and after each murder, she displayed disturbing calm, even celebrating her actions in private, as per the reports.
During the wedding on December 1, sources said that Poonam was withdrawn and quiet, refusing to participate in celebrations. After she was found in wet cloth, Poonam made a false explanation when questioned by family members. However, police have taken Poonam into judicial custody and have launched a probe into all her crimes.
