Trinamool Congress (TMC) Rajya Sabha-elect Sagarika Ghose today slammed Prime Minister Modi for equating BJP’s “anonymous corporate donors” to Lord Krishna. The former journalist who made her foray into politics recently said that the Prime Minister seems to equate 6500 crore which the BJP received from anonymous corporate donors to a handful of rice offered by devoted companion Sudama to Lord Krishna.

“Egoism gone berserk. Modi seems to equate 6500 crores which @BJP4India received from anonymous corporate donors to a handful of rice offered by devoted companion Sudama to Lord Krishna,” Sagarika Ghose wrote in her post on X (formerly Twitter), sharing the Prime Minister’s statement

The Prime Minister while addressing a gathering in Uttar Pradesh’s Sambhal on the occasion of laying the foundation stone of Shri Kalki Dham stated, “In today”s time, if Sudama gives a rice potli to Bhagwan Krishna, someone will file a PIL in court to prove that Bhagwan Krishna took a bribe…”

The prime minister also was viewed as making a reference to the Supreme Court after it struck down the electoral bonds scheme, terming it “unconstitutional.” The electoral bonds scheme was introduced by the government in 2018. The Supreme Court while delivering its verdict stated that the electoral bonds can lead to quid pro quo. The top Court had further said that the scheme also violates the right to information while allowing blanket corporate political funding.

The BJP had said that it respects the Supreme Court judgement, noting that the electoral bonds were brought in for bringing transparency. The BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad said the people will decide who is in the field and who are out.
