Five Lashkar terrorists were killed in Jammu and Kashmir. The incident took place during a counter terrorism operation by police and army along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in the Machil sector of Kupwara district, as reported by NDTV.
According to police, the terrorists who were killed belonged to Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) group. Two terrorists reported to be killed in the initial shootout and remaining three were killed during the gun battle that followed. The operation is said to be still underway.
According to NDTV, the Director General of Jammu and Kashmir police, Dilbag Singh said 16 launching pads of terrorists are still under operation across the Line of Actual Control and efforts are underway to “push in” terrorists from Pakistan. Earlier, it was army exclusively included for the counter infiltration operations. But lately police are also involved in the operations.
Earlier, at the headquarters of the 15 Corps in Srinagar, meeting between top officials of Jammu and Kashmir and security agencies took place and the involvement of foreign terrorists in Kasmir has held the top seat in the meeting, said one of the official, as per report. The official said, “the number of foreign terrorists has gone up again as local recruitment have gone down drastically”.
Security agencies has also warned that the militant group would try to sneak in before the winter shut down. The X (formerly twitter) page of Kashmir police has confirmed the death of the terrorists.

The Ministry of Home Affairs said that half among the 130 terrorist operation in the valley are of foreign terrorists. According to report, total of 46 terrorists were killed in the Union Territory so far this year and among them 37 were Pakistanis, as said by the officials. They also added that this is the first time in 33 years, the terrorists killed in Jammu and Kashmir four times higher than the local terrorists.
