While speaking at a farewell, outgoing Chief Justice Ramesh Sinha of the Chhattisgarh High Court on Thursday exhorted the lawyers and upcoming judges the need to protest judicial institutions.

Stressing the importance of the institution, the judge said the office they hold is temporary, the people who occupy them come and go, but institutions must endure and therefore the ultimate responsibility is not to leave behind a personal legacy but to leave behind a stronger institution, great trust and a better future for those who will later.

In a separate incident, former Supreme Court Justice Rajesh Bindal recently said that the courts must decide cases based on the evidence before them rather than public opinion or narratives circulating on social media or newspapers. He also spoke about the need for a gender-neutral criminal justice system and also said that courts must focus on the material before them rather than public perceptions
