Lucknow Bus Fire Kills 5, Including 2 Children (screen grab from x.com/Dpatel14201)
New Delhi: Five people, including two children, two women, and one man, died when a moving private bus caught fire in the Mohanlalganj area early Thursday morning. The double-decker bus was travelling from Bihar to Delhi. According to reports, the incident occurred around 5 AM and the bus was carrying 80 passengers.
Upon receiving the news of the fire, locals quickly rushed to the spot and alerted the police and fire department. Firefighters who reached the spot managed to control the blaze within 30 minutes, but the bus was completely destroyed by then.

According to the preliminary police investigation, the emergency exit door of the bus failed to open, trapping the passengers inside.
“Initial investigation suggests that the fire may have started due to a short circuit in the bus’ gearbox,” Assistant Commissioner of Police (Mohanlalganj) Rajneesh Verma told PTI.
