After Lucknow Fire, Development Authority Issues Demolition Order For Aliganj Building
The Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) on Tuesday issued a demolition order for the commercial building in Aliganj where a fire killed at least 15 lives. The government has formed a two-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the tragedy and the officials have launched a detailed probe.
The special team comprises Additional Chief Secretary (Tourism) Amrit Abhijat and Additional Director General of Police, Lucknow Zone, Praveen Kumar. The probe aims to uncover the exact cause of the fire, including possible lapses and responsibility in connection with the blaze that broke out in the three-storey commercial building on Usha Mehta Marg in Sector D of Lucknow’s Aliganj area.

Following the incident, four people, including the owners, were arrested and four officials were suspended. The FIR was lodged against six named individuals. The case has been lodged at Aliganj Police Station under Sections 105, 110, 125 and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Three building owners – Ramkrishna Upadhyay, Virendra Prasad Shukla, and Tushank Krishna Jaiswal – were arrested. All the victims were students at the building housing a coaching centre. Some students managed to jump from the first floor when the fire erupted.
