'All Are Safe' After Fire Threatens To Sink Tanker Carrying 24 Indian Seafarers Off Oman Coast
Oman: Amid the renewed attacks in West Asian, a fire incident has been reported on the vessel MT Marivex at around today, June 8. The tanker had 24 Indian seafarers at the time of the incident, which occurred off Oman Coast.
Shipping Ministry Director Opesh Kumar Sharma said that all Indian seafarers are presently safe.

The vessel, identified as the motor tanker MARIVEX, was operating off the Omani coast when the crew sought urgent assistance, warning that the ship was on fire and at risk of sinking
A fire incident has been reported on the vessel MT Marivex at around 1:30 PM today. There were 24 Indian seafarers on the vessel at the time of the incident.

A crew member described severe damage to the vessel and difficulties launching emergency evacuation equipment, while requesting for help in an audio message. The message says the motor tanker MARIVEX is on fire and the vessel is sinking. “Our lifeboat also caught fire. We are unable to lower the lifeboat. One lifeboat is missing. That is damaged. Rope is catch fire. We are unable to lower lifeboat. We are unable to lower liferaft. Hull is damaged. Hull is on fire. Please help. Please help,” the message said.
