Journalist Divya Shrivastava Faces Online Threat After Questioning Uttar Pradesh CM During Presser
Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh: Journalist Divya Shrivastava is reportedly receiving online threats and abuse following a viral video of her questioning Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath during a purported press conference on Saturday, September 12.
The Opposition, along with multiple media channels, alleged that the chief minister gave his address and left without taking questions from reporters, who claimed to have been called for the “press meet.”

Speaking about the incident, Divya Shrivastava said that she posed questions during the press interaction, after which Yogi smiled and left. While she was leaving, people identifying themselves as BJP supporters began shouting at her and allegedly behaved rudely, including questioning which channel she represented, The Pioneer quoted the journalist.
Divya said she also aced threat on social media, adding that she is now afraid to leave her home and her family is also worried about her safety. Worried by the threat, Divya said the experience has made her question whether the spirit of journalism and the freedom to question those in power, is still alive in India.
Divya completed a master’s in journalism from IGNOU and is currently preparing for a PhD.
