Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh: A total of 13 FIRs have been registered against 140 social media handles for spreading misleading content about the ongoing Maha Kumbh mela, the police said.

“13 FIRs have been registered against 140 social media handles that shared misleading content…Today, more than one crore people have taken a holy dip,” Maha Kumbh Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Vaibhav Krishna told ANI.

DIG Krishna also informed that police they have made all the complete arrangements for the forthcoming Maha Shivratri festival on February 26 wherein a massive number of devotees are expected to attend.

“Efforts will be made to ensure that there is no traffic jam anywhere in the Mahakumbh area. All arrangements should run smoothly…No matter how big the crowd is, we are fully prepared,” DIG Krishna added.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that 620 million devotees had visited the Maha Kumbh so far. Nearly 8.7 million (87 lakh) people had taken the holy dip at the Triveni Sangam (confluence of rivers Ganga, Yamuna and the Saraswati) on Sunday, the Uttar Pradesh government’s Information Department reports.

Meanwhile, the authorities overseeing the Maha Kumbh mela have executed extensive crowd control measures at Ayodhya Dham Railway Station so as to secure smooth management and safety.

“We have increased alertness ahead of the Mahakumbh ‘snan’ on Maha Shivratri. Additional security has been deployed here, after which the total number of personnel deployed is more than 350. Barricading has been done all around. A holding area has been set up and passengers are being brought here,”  Deputy Superintendent of Police Yashwant Singh told ANI.

Singh also added that they are making regular announcements for trains so that passengers stay alert. The passengers gave entry to the platform only when the train arrives and are officers are trying to make sure that the platform’s passengers do not exceed its capacity.

The Maha Kumbh started on January 13.
