Delhi, July 2, 2024 – The All India Mahila Congress, led by President Alka Lamba, is launching a nationwide movement from Jantar Mantar in Delhi on Monday, 29th July. This movement, backed by the Indian National Congress, will focus on three major demands from the Central Government:
1. Political Empowerment and Participation: Immediate implementation of the Women’s Reservation Act, ensuring inclusion of OBC women from the most backward classes.
2. Economic Empowerment: Provision of financial relief to combat inflation and unemployment. Under the Mahalaxmi Yojana, each woman from a poor family should receive Rs. 1,00,000 annually or Rs. 8,500 per month directly in their bank accounts.
3. Social Justice and Security: Addressing the alarming rise in crimes against women. Recent incidents in Rewa, Madhya Pradesh, New Mumbai, and Thane highlight the urgent need for stricter enforcement and protection measures.
This movement will extend from Delhi to every state capital, major city, and district, continuing until the demands are met and women’s rights and security are ensured. As Ms. Lamba stated, this will persist “until we get the right to justice.”
