Militants' Bomb Attack Kills Two Children, Injures Mother In Manipur's Residential Area

Imphal, Manipur: At least two children were killed their mother sustained injuries after a suspected militant bomb strike hit their residence in Manipur’s Bishnupur district on Tuesday morning.

The incident happened around 1 am in Moirang Tronglaobi area. The military reportedly hurled an explosive device at a house while the family was asleep. The diseased include a five-year-old boy and an infant girl aged about six months, The New Indian Express reported. The injured mother has been rushed to a nearby hospital.

The Indigenous Tribal Leaders’ Forum, a Kuki organisation, rejected the allegations that members of the community were linked to the incident. The Group said the incident should not be automatically attributed to the Kuki-Zo people without proper investigation.

It further said that the buffer zones between Kuki-Zo and Meitei areas are heavily guarded by security forces, making it virtually impossible for Kuki-Zo individuals to cross undetected to carry out any form of attack or to plant explosive devices in Meitei localities.
