A minor girl who was allegedly raped by a senior Delhi government officer was hospitalised after a series of panic attacks, NDTV quoted the Police sources.

The accused officer, Premoday Khakha, raped the girl repeatedly over a five month period from October 2020 and February 2021 and impregnated.

The Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal ordered a suspension of the officer, on Monday.

“I have directed the chief secretary to suspend him (the rape-accused) till an enquiry takes place”, said Mr Kejriwal to the media.

“I have sought a report by 5 pm today. I also request the police to arrest him at the earliest”, Mr Kejriwal added.

The wife of the accused was also charged with giving medicines for abortion to the girl.

The accused is a deputy director in the Women and Child Development department of Delhi.

The victim girl was staying with the accused and his family at their house after her father passed away on 1 October 2020, PTI quoted the Delhi police.

The officer allegedly raped the girl multiple times between November 2020 and January 2021. When the minor found herself pregnant, she informed the wife of the accused who asked her son to get medicines for pregnancy termination and gave them to the girl.

The girl returned to home with her mother when she came to meet her in January 2021. Later in August this year, the minor had an anxiety attack and admitted to St Stephen”s hospital.

The matter came to light when the girl, who is now in Class 12 student, recently narrated the incident to a counselor at a hospital where she was admitted, PTI quoted the police.

“It is a sensitive matter. We are investigating it with utmost sincerity. We have detained the prime accused both husband and wife. Recording of statement of the victim under CrPC 164 with the magistrate is underway,” said Sagar Singh Kalsi, DCP of North Delhi.

A case was registered against the accused under sections of the Indian Penal Code 376(2)(f), 509, 506, 323, 313, 120B, and provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act at the Burari police station.

An inquiry is in process and the victim”s statement is yet to be discovered since the girl is still recovering, said the police.
