New Delhi: Social media platform X on Friday told the Delhi High Court that it was an imposter that directed the platform to block the handles of Internet Freedom Foundation (IFF) and Software Freedom Law Centre (SFLC).

Noting that it was not Delhi police, the X platform said the imposter misused the police name and directed them to block the handles.

The X handle submitted the clarification before Justice Amit Mahajan during the hearing of petitions. In their petitions, the IFF and SLFC had challenged the notices issued to X by Delhi Police regarding the handles.

The X further pointed out that the social media handles of IFF and SFLC will not be taken down. In its submission, the counsel representing the platform said, “It was an imposter. We have done an internal investigation and it turn out this was an imposter. We have filed a complaint with Delhi Police.”
