Congress leader and MP Rahul Gandhi met Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) MP Kunwar Danish Ali at his residence on Friday night. Mr. Ali was hurled abuses and communal slurs by BJP MP Ramesh Bidhuri yesterday during a discussion in Rajya Sabha over the success of Chandrayaan-3.
Mr. Gandhi who met Mr. Ali at home, shared a photograph of him hugging BSP leader on X and wrote: “Nafrat ke bazaar mein, mohabbat ki dukkan” (In the marketplace of hatred, there is a shop of love.)

Mr. Ali, then told reporters about his meeting with Congress leader: “He [Rahul Gandhi] came here to keep my morale high and to extend his support… He said that I am not alone and everyone who is standing with democracy is standing with me…” reports ANI.
Prior to Mr. Gandhi’s visit, the BSP MP, in an interview with NDTV, asked: “Was this special session (of the parliament) called to attack elected MPs by linking them to their community? This has shamed the entire country. We will see whether his party will take any action against him or promote him. This is hate speech.”
Mr. Ali has written a letter to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, requesting action against the BJP MP. When he was asked what he will do if no action was taken against BJP MP, Mr. Ali replied: “I expect that the speaker will take action on this. But if action is not taken, then with a heavy heart, I will consider quitting the membership of this House because people have not sent me to Parliament to listen to hate speeches” reports The New Indian Express.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has expressed his regret for BJP MP”s objectionable remarks. The opposition parties condemned BJP MP’s remarks, and demanded action.
Later, the speaker has also asked the officials to remove the remarks from official records.
